6 Week Body Makeover Food Recipes

by James Kim

The 6 Week Body Makeover has recipe cards that are included in each kit so that you will have an infinite amount of food choices. The less bored you are with the food on your diet, the higher of a chance that you will stick to the diet and lose weight. Here is an example of the food that you can eat on the body makeover diet.

The Savory Asian Stir Fry is a great recipe that involves a little protein plus many vegetables. Here is the complete recipe for this delicious dish. You will need one half pound of skinless chicken breast that is cut in 1 inch cubes. The rest of the ingredients are as following: 1/3 cup of water, 1 cup broccoli florets, 1 cup snow peas, 1 cup mushrooms, cup water chestnuts, cup bamboo shoots, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, 4 Tbsp white wine, 2 tsp thyme, 1 tsp of nutmeg and black pepper to taste. This recipe is best for people with an “A” body type, but can be used for all of the body types. Here is how you cook the ingredients listed above.

Cut all the ingredients into inch cubes. Combine all fruit in a large metal bowl and mix thoroughly. Next, dissolve the artificial sweetener and the lime juice. Stir briskly and drizzle the mixture over the fruit. If you have some mint, you can add this into the mixture to give the sauce some “freshness”. This recipe is used for body type A & B people so make sure to combine the fruit combinations that are appropriate for your plan. There is an endless variation of fruits you can use.

Additional veggies variations that you can use for your stir fry are the Thai Stir Fry which contain shredded cabbage, onion, celery and carrots. Also, if you are a body type A, you can try the seafood variation which has shrimp or scallops, which replaces the chicken in the original version. Use bok choy, red peppers, green onion and mushrooms as veggies.

A variation to this dish is to add 1 tbsp chili powder and tsp cayenne pepper to the egg white mixture. If you want “gourmet” style fries, try to add 1 sweet potato to your regular taters. For the garlic lovers, add 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp paprika to the egg white mix.

Tear 4 large squares of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Put 1 potato, onion and carrot in the center of each foil square and sprinkle with 1 tsp of water. Make sure to season each squares with salt and pepper. Fold shut each foil square and seal well. Place the packs over hot coals for 45 minutes and turn once to prevent overcooking one side. Remember that the potatoes are carbohydrates, so measure your portions according to your body type.

6 Week Body Makeover Sample Recipes

The 6 Week Body Makeover has recipe cards that are included in each kit so that you will have an infinite amount of food choices. The less bored you are with the food on your diet, the higher of a chance that you will stick to the diet and lose weight. Here is an example of the food that you can eat on the body makeover diet.

The Fresh Fruit Medley is a great way to satisfy your “sweet tooth” without all the guilt of fat and high calories. You will need cantaloupes, a honeydew, cup blueberries, a juice of 1 lime and 1 package of artificial sweetener or use Splenda.

Heat a large, non-stick skillet over high-heat. Make sure that the skillet is non-stick as you won’t be using oil to cook the vegetables. The sauce (lemon juice, wine and a little bit of water should be enough moisture to make the veggies not stick to the pan). Mix all the ingredients that contain liquid in a bowl and set aside.. Add the chicken and stir frequently. The chicken should be brown on both sides. Add cup of water and bring the whole thing to a boil. Stir in the broccoli and cook 1 minute on each side. Mix in the snow peas, mushrooms and water chestnuts and allow to cook for about 2 minutes. Stir in the wine mixture and continue to cook for 2 minutes or until the vegetables are tender and crisp. Lastly, make sure you serve with a small single serving of rice.

Another great side dish is the Guiltless French Fries. The reason that they are low-fat is because the potatoes are oven-baked. Carbohydrates are not your enemy as long as you know how to use them as energy. You will need to cut potatoes into thin French fry style strips. In a bowl, whip some egg white until it’s foamy and add some black pepper into the mixture. All the mixtures to the potatoes and coat evenly. Spread the potatoes on a non stick cookie sheet in a single layer so that it’s not overlapping. Cook until all the potatoes are crispy and brown (about 30-35 minutes at 450 degrees).

A great light lunch or side dish is the spicy veggies. What you will need is 2 cups of fresh green beans, cup celery, cup onion, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, tsp dill seed, tsp cayenne pepper and a dash of black pepper for taste. This is a simple dish that is delicious, nutritious and can be an accompaniment to your beat dishes.

Steam the green beans until they are completely cooked. Put the beans in a non-stick skillet and add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and cook all ingredients on the stove over a medium-high heat until the beans are soft.

Doc Told Me I’m Diabetic - Bummer - Now What?

by Lauran Stevenin

Burn fat with exercise. Being overweight causes a cycling negative effect on the body. Your body becomes more fatigued with excess weight and that causes you not to feel like doing things that will help maintain a lower weight. Eat a moderate meal without any exercise at all will result in increased weight. Don’t envision yourself having to spend 3 hours at the gym to become healthier. It isn’t that surge of exercise you need. Gradual increase in exercise (even if it only means a walk around the block) is critical to breaking that negative cycle.

Balanced meals are the key. Plan your meals to provide a balanced diet and plan your daily exercise habits to use more calories than you take in. I used to be a meat and potatoes man, myself. With a little fear factor (the idea of being diabetic), I started using a smaller plate and figuring half the portion on the plate should be vegetables. Eating 1200 calories daily and expending 1400 calories will lead to gradual weight loss. The same theory goes for eating 2400 calories and expending 2700 calories. The gradual weight loss is the important factor for healthy weight loss.

There are two schools of thought about vegetables. One supports the benefit of more enzymes in raw vegetables. The other raves about the extra flavor you can add even though you lose some of the beneficial enzymes in the cooking process. Raw fruits and vegetables provide more enzymes and fewer calories. Those vegetables that provide extra fiber in your diet also help you feel full without eating a lot of extra calories.

Don’t feel like a “health nut” if you consider squeezing your own juice. That’s a stereotype given to people who generally put health above all else in life. Well, let’s face it. If you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes, you SHOULD be taking better care of your health and squeezing your own juice is one way to do that. Using a blender and avoiding adding extra sugar will give you juices that have a lot of good enzymes, lower sugar content and are better for you. You might even try guava or red grapes. They make a tasty juice as well as controlling your blood sugar level.

Our society has become obese, as the doctors like to say it. Fast food restaurants fry foods and pour the sugar drinks, shakes and little sweet pies. That makes it difficult to find a way for a diabetic to eat out. The result is taking most of your meals at home.

Foods rich in fiber help clean fat and blood glucose from your system. Naturally, this lowers the blood sugar levels. We talk about foods high in fiber being vegetables and a lot of those are found in salads. Naturally, we consider salads good for you to keep your body clean. The next thing to consider are the salad dressings. Take care here because things like mayonnaise and extra sugars are used to enhance the dressing’s flavor. If you pour on the dressing, you’re defeating the benefit of eating the salads in the first place. Moderation is the key to using dressings. Another option is to use low-calorie / low-fat dressings.

The pancreas produces enzymes to digest food in addition to insulin to regulate the sugar level of the blood. Over a period of time, the pancreas starts to lose its ability to produce both in most people. This simply means a good diet becomes more important as people get older. Many doctors end up suggesting patients add a dose of acidophilus to their diet to ease the stress placed on the pancreas by adding bacteria into the system that assists with the digestive function.

When you look for fat-fighting compounds, you find them in vitamin D, calcium, fiber and omega-3s. Keep fish like tuna, salmon and sardines contain vitamin D as well as eggs and dairy products. Calcium is found in dairy products. Foods high in fiber include vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Finally, omega-3s can be found in fish, flax seed and walnuts.
